How to get energy?
Energy in smoothies comes from the calories provided by carbohydrates, protein, and fat in the ingredients. These nutrients are broken down by the body to produce energy for cells, muscles, and the brain. For example, bananas and berries provide natural sugars (carbohydrates) that the body converts quickly into energy. Greek yogurt adds protein, which gives a slower, more sustained release of energy. Healthy fats from chia or flax seeds help the body absorb vitamins and provide long-lasting energy (Mahan & Raymond, 2017).
Ingredients
1 Banana (ripe for sweetness)
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 cup of milk of your choice
Optional: 1 teaspoon of maple syrup or honey
Recipe
Place all of the ingredients in a blender, and add ice if you want it to be cold.
Blend it until smooth and creamy (or to your taste)
Pour it into a glass, and enjoy it immediately!
